Oh wait....my idea. Well, it was stupid. I know I'm supposed to be the quintessential housewife here in the South - you know, house clean, supper made (yes, it's called supper here), beer opened for my husband when he walks in the front door, all while having my hair and makeup done - but I suck at it! And this is during my month WITHOUT a child to look after! I think that I should seriously look into writing a book on The Modern Ways of Housewifeness...or whatever. Here are some of my ideas....

1. A Modern Housewife should always be on the lookout for housekeepers. There is nothing wrong with paying someone to do something that you just don't want to do. For example - who the hell cleans baseboards except a professional cleaner. BUT, it is something that has to be done. Sooo...pay for it.

2. A MH should also have a plethora of hair ties - especially during the heat of the summer months here in the South. A bun at all times (usually still wet from the shower to keep your head cool) can be very sexy yet practical. Take it down right before your husband comes home and normally, a bun will give you that curly cascading look - that one you can NEVER achieve from curling it. As for the makeup - Benefits You Rebel tinted moisturizer is the best cover of all time!!!

3. Hamburger Helper - okay, now I know this sounds kind of gross....BUT, you can make a lot of things to accent Hamburger Helpers that can be quick, easy and yummy. The operative words here are quick and easy. Also - appeal to your husband's need to grill. All men have it - so tell him you would LOVE some grilled chicken or steak or whatever and all YOU have to do is heat up some frozen veggies (60 seconds), make instant mashed potatoes (2 minutes) and BAM! You didn't have to make the main course! HE did! It buys you time in the afternoon not having to slave over the stove AND you get out of cooking.

This is all I've come up with for now - soooo maybe I wouldn't have a whole book....but it's a start! I'm off to clean the bathrooms....ugghhhh....it never ends!

Summer of Love....

All right, big sis....I'm a blogger. I can barely remember to eat breakfast let alone blog here and there, but I'll give it a try.

I'm going to start with the Summer of Love travels....it all started in Miami on June 5th with a two-hour delay on the runway. So I've decided that even though it was technically ON the plane and not OUT in Miami, I can add Miami to the list of our Summer of Love without Aedyn.
After that it was a pool party on Saturday - then a Redbirds game on Sunday followed by a tour of the McCarter Coffee Company. It was pretty cool - the guy took us on a tour of the back room and showed us the roasters and the beans before they are done.
The week went by fairly uneventful. Tommy worked, I took naps and got a tan by the pool at the Y. We thought our Summer of Love warranted two steaks on the grill and lots of cuddling....but, as the day wore on, the storms blew in and we ended up with just the cuddling - while watching the news to see if we were going to have to hole up in the bathroom if a tornado hit. Not so romantic, but oh well!
Then today - we went to fix breakfast with a group for the children and families at the Ronald McDonald house. Wow - quite a tearjerker. Having recently lost a family member to cancer, I'm not sure I was up and ready for the reality of seeing those children, but it really made me thank God for a healthy little girl. Tomorrow, we add Mud Island in Memphis to our Summer of Love list and then it's off to Mississippi on Tuesday!
